Below is a statement from Roy Moses, President of Squaw Creek Ditch, on the many reasons that contributed to increased assessments that impacted all shareholders this year.
- The company has struggled to deliver water in recent years. And the damages that has caused our shareholders.
- Many of the handshake deals the company has made in the past have been violated.
- The number of accounts the company deals with has doubled.
- Locked gates, fences, vehicles, dogs, trees, people etc.
- Threats, abuse, assault.
- It took the company board, ditch rider, trackhoe, police, attorney, area 65 water master, and others just to deliver water the past 2 years.
- We repaired an area in the ditch that has been held up by sandbags for the last 30 years.
- We need to fix many other areas to ensure the company can deliver water and reduce liability of flooding.
- The company needs personnel appropriately paid so the responsibility and burden doesn’t fall on the volunteer board.
- All shareholders should have access to their head gates to monitor, clean moss, to maintain, etc.
- The company needs unobstructed access to it’s easement to protect from flooding and fulfill it’s purpose of delivering water.
I hope this answers some of the questions and brings understanding and unity in our purpose of delivering water.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO ALL STOCKHOLDERS that at the annual meeting of the stockholders held on February 1, 2021, resulted in an Annual Assessment of $30.00 per acre/share and an Account Fee (formerly known as EMF fee) payment of $400.00 per Shareholder was levied upon the stockholders of the Company.
New rates on title transfers and a subdividing fees can be found here.
Rates have gone up this year due to unexpected expenses; legal fees and repairs and maintenance. See Roy Moses’s statement on the issues here.
Invoices to the shareholders will be mailed the week of February 10 and payments should be received in our PO box no later than March 15, 2021. A 12% late fee will be imposed if not paid timely.
To be a part of these meetings and have your vote count, please attend every first Monday in February. Notices of the meeting are made via robocall, our website, Facebook, snail mail notice and postings all over Sweet.
The annual ditch meeting will be held on Monday, February 1st at Syringa Hall, 7pm. We will also mail out reminders to all shareholders. Spread the word, see ya there!
We will be having an emergency chemical cleaning starting Friday evening. Please shut off your headgates by 7pm and do not use the water. The ditch will be turned back on Monday morning and the ditch water will be safe to use. Sorry for the inconvenience.
We will begin demossing the ditch starting Friday, July 10. Please expect no water for 4-5 days.
The ditch has been opened. Let us know if you have any issues.
We will be opening the ditch between April 1 and April 15th depending on the weather.

Effective Monday January 6th, Joseph Zavaletta resigned as director from the ditch board. A new president will be appointed at the 2020 annual ditch meeting.
