The Squaw Creek Ditch Company is a private, shareholder-owned, non-profit corporation formed in 1896 and has irrigation water rights for 1,327 acres within the IDWR place of use also designated in 65-2379, 65-3043, and 65-3044 Snake River Basis Adjudication decrees.

Demossing - July 6th, 2026

To all Shareholders.

The ditch will undergo demossing Monday, July 6th.

Please close all headgates by Sunday night, July 5th.

Headgates can be reopened Tuesday, July 7th any time after 12pm.

Be aware moss (at times heavy) could be flowing up to 7 days after the demossing has been completed.

Tour of Dam and Canal - 2025
To all Shareholders.

Now’s the time to check out the dam and Squaw Creek Ditch Company’s canal.

On Saturday, June 28th, John Avila and Bobby Porter will be available to take you on a walk to see our newly cleaned canal and the area that was fixed due to the mudslide last year.

For those of you who know where the dam is, they will meet you there at 10am. For those needing guidance, you can meet at John Avila’s property (9650 Sweet Ola Hwy).  Park at the bridge over the canal by 9:45am. He will lead you over to the dam entrance.

Ditch Safety

  • Stay out of the ditch; no swimming, no fishing.
  • Keep a safe distance from the edge.
  • Teach children about ditch safety.
  • Teach your children to swim.
  • Ditches may have chemicals.
  • Don’t let your animals swim in the ditch.
